Albia Community High School is a progressive school that works diligently to provide a culture for learning that fully prepares our students for their future beyond high school. We believe we need to “stretch” all of our students by engaging them in meaningful, relevant, and applied learning experiences so they are prepared for the demands of the 21st century. (The workplace today has high standards and many students from ACHS seek post-secondary education.) We have high expectations for students and believe we should challenge all students with a rigorous core curriculum as well as career/technical experiences. ACHS is a student-centered school; our “main goal” is to develop our students into life-long learners who acquire “habits of the mind.” Staff, students, parents, and the greater community collaborate to ensure we are serving our students well. In sum, ACHS is a “work in progress” and we understand Rigor, Relevance, & Relationships are key elements for redesigning our school to meet the needs of our learners.
